Nominations for the EMS Advisory Committee are Open!

The 95th Arkansas Legislative General Assembly passed Act 863 of 2025. This act abolishes the current EMS Advisory Council and establishes and transfers its powers and duties to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee and the Arkansas State Board of Health. The Arkansas State Board of Health appoints the eleven Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee members for two-year terms.

Membership by statute requires representation as follows: 

  • One (1) member who is an emergency medical services medical director of a ground ambulance service.
  • One (1) member who is an emergency physician certified by the Arkansas State Medical Board with emergency room or critical care experience.
  • One (1) member from the state at large is a consumer representative interested in public health and emergency medical services.
  • One (1) member who is an emergency medical services paramedic from a ground transportation provider. The State Board of Health shall consult with the Arkansas Ambulance Association before making an appointment.
  • One (1) member from the state at large who is an emergency medical services clinician working as an emergency medical services technician, an advanced emergency medical technician, a paramedic, or a community paramedic. The State Board of Health shall consult with the Arkansas EMT Association Air Medical Society before making an appointment.
  • One (1) member who is an air medical services paramedic. The State Board of Health shall consult with the Arkansas EMT Association Air Medical Society before making an appointment.
  • One (1) member who is a public or government licensed ambulance service provider and a licensed emergency medical services provider. The State Board of Health shall consult with the Arkansas Ambulance Association before making an appointment.
  • One (1) member who is a private licensed ambulance service provider and a licensed emergency medical services provider. The State Board of Health shall consult with the Arkansas Ambulance Association before making an appointment.
  • One (1) certified military emergency medical technician member.
  • One (1) member who is a fire-based ambulance service provider.
  • One (1) member who is the emergency medical services training site program director.
